New Holiday Inn to Open in Melbourne

A new, next-generation Holiday Inn by IHG is set to open in the south Melbourne suburb of Dandenong. Pellingra Group will also be investing AU$ 12 million into the project.

The property chosen has an existing building, which will be converted into a 124-room facility, including 16 newly built rooms and 154 square metres of function space. The property also includes an open lobby, lounge, and eatery.

General Manager for the new facility, Scott Schafer, said that the light-filled spaces in the new open lobby would invite a relaxed atmosphere, whilst rooms can recharge guests.

“We’re providing a fresh, new destination where guests, local workers and residents can come together for a coffee, a business meeting, or to work remotely – something the local business community is hungry for.”

Taking the helm in the kitchen, executive chef Atish Chaudhuri will offer an all-day menu of ‘Itali-fusion’ dishes. Spritz and aperitivo menus will be available in the bar, as well as Italian and local Victorian wines and a café on site will cater to guests’ caffeine fixes.

Built-in AV facilities parade the function spaces, catering to 120 people. The hotel design combines vibrant colours, lighting features, and greenery.

The Victoria state government has also invested in the project, pledging a further AU$290 million to transform the surrounding suburban centre into a modern economic hub, which will be completed by 2030.
