Pro-Invest Appoint General Manager Ahead of Melbourne Opening

Pro-Invest Group has appointed a General Manager of Hotel Indigo Melbourne, recruiting Joseph Simmons ahead of the hotel’s opening in August after undergoing an AU$20 million refurbishment.

Previously, Simmons was manager of Hotel Indigo in Brisbane CBD, and also held positions across mid-scale and luxury brands, including Sofitel and Four Points Sheraton. Simmons has moved to Melbourne for the role, adding that the new Flinders property is poised to add a new dimension to the area of Melbourne’s CBD.

“We can’t wait to share the essence and intrigue of our Flinders Lane neighbourhood through the hotel’s design, art and guest experiences,” Simmons said.

Pro-invest Group chief operating officer, Shantha de Silva, said that it was a thrill to be working with IHG Hotels and Resorts to bring the Hotel Indigo brand to Melbourne.

“This is a city that provides the perfect backdrop for this creative lifestyle brand, and now with Joseph appointed to helm the operations, we’re certain in achieving our vision for this to become one of Melbourne’s leading boutique hotels,” said Silva.

The hotel itself was formerly a Holiday Inn hotel and was acquired by Pro-Invest in early 2023. The hotel will include 216 guest rooms and a street-side Spanish tapas restaurant and bar called ‘Beso.’ There are also meeting facilities for up to 200 people, and its rebrand will see the venue be repositioned as a creatively curated retreat.

Hotel Indigo Melbourne on Flinder will be the sixth hotel Pro-Invest will operate in Melbourne, and will be the second of the Hotel Indigo Brand.
