Marriott International has officially opened its first Moxy Hotel in Australia, introducing the modern new-build property at Sydney Airport. The location is only a short walk from the airport's domestic terminal and is true to the experimental and contemporary design the hotel's brand captures. General manager, Michell Scott, said that the hotel's theme is bold and reinventive of the traditional hotel concept, with the aim to offer a vibrant guest experience with a reliable service.
"Mascot, with its rich transit and industrial history, has been the birthplace of various transformative moments in Sydney's history, so it's the perfect location to launch Moxy's first hotel in Australia. We are raising the bar in the airport hotel scene, with an urban hotel in an airport precinct where guests will have everything they want and nothing they don't," said Scott.
Moxy Sydney Airport has been inspired by the industrial area of Mascot and the art-deco-styled architecture in the surrounding neighbourhood. The hotel's interior has been designed by renowned Canadian interior designers MAED. COLLECTIVE, which has made sure that every corner of the hotel has character. Exposed ceilings in the lobby keep with the industrial theme, including the use of iron beams and natural materials.
On the hotel's exterior sits an attractive façade of public art created by local artist, Elliot Routledge, who is best known for his abstract works.

The hotel has been designed as a multi-purpose, functional work environment with the capability of being an interactive social space. The lobby leads onto the hotel's bar, where guests can both check in and collect a complimentary 'Get Moxy' cocktail. A laid-back communal space has also been added to the hotel lobby, complete with a selection of reclaimed furniture and nostalgic 1970s photobooth.
Guest rooms have been designed with a multi-purpose functionality with an edgy detail to maximise space. Signature Moxy Hotel furniture has also been added to the Sydney Airport location. LED light fixtures have been added to rooms, as well as 55-inch flat-screen TVs, complimentary Wi-Fi, and keyless entry.
Moxy Hotels vice president and global brand leader, Matthew Boettcher, said that he is thrilled to continue to grow the brand's global portfolio and introduce the energetic Moxy brand to Australia with the opening of Moxy Sydney Airport.
"Sydney is a city of iconic attractions and urban excitement, making it the perfect destination for a spirited brand like Moxy. We look forward to welcoming our fun-hunters to this world-class city and experience Moxy's young-at-heart spirit and disruptive hotel experience," said Boettcher.
Bar Moxy has incorporated local cuisine into its menu to offer guests a true Australian welcome, as well as innovative culinary creations.
In touch with true Australiana themes, an in-house milk bar-themed café has also been added to the hotel to offer guests necessary snacks and beverages to make their stay more comfortable.
