QT Queenstown has launched an exhibition that never closes. Gallery 6 is located on the sixth floor of the lakeside hotel. The 12-meter-long space provides local artists an opportunity to share both their art and their stories.
Gallery 6’s inaugural exhibition, Double Up, by Lyttleton-based artist, Alexandra Weston, brings splashes of colour to the hallways of QT Queenstown. Weston uses Perspex panels to create captivating canvases of colour.
Weston created a brand new set of artwork specifically for Double Up. The collection consists of 16 artworks, showcased in pairs. The collection takes inspiration from festivals around the world and the traditions that make them unique.
“What delights me about festivals and carnivals is the colour and flamboyancy that’s enhanced by symmetry and repetition,” said Weston.
General Manager of QT Queenstown, Jeremy Black, is thrilled about the opening of the exhibition.
“Bringing local art into our design-led hotel will further enhance the experience for our guests at QT Queenstown,” said Black.
Coinciding with the launch of Gallery 6, QT Queenstown have partnered with Dunedin-based ethical chocolate maker, OCHO, to create a bespoke chocolate bar.
Ember is a milk chocolate bar with notes of vanilla, cinnamon and smoked caramel, designed to invoke the flavours and aromas of Queenstown. The chocolate bar was inspired by open-air fireplaces, the warmth of vanilla and the spices in mulled wine. Wrapped in a recyclable paper wrapper that features Alexandra Weston’s artwork, Pöttyök 115, the bar is a playful nod to the adventurous spirit of the town.
OCHO General Manager, Angela Howell, was grateful for the opportunity to craft a unique flavour for Queenstown.
“OCHO had so much fun crafting a flavour unique to Queenstown,” said Howell. “We are delighted to share our craft with QT's discerning clientele and are very grateful for the opportunity to share our values - one bar at a time.”
