Accor has partnered with exercise company, Peloton, to create a new in-house exercise experience for guests.
More than 50 Accor properties around the Pacific region are set to include Peloton bikes, in addition to the properties that trialled the programme in 2022. The announcement was also made in conjunction with the Accor ALL rewards programme, allowing guests to attain points.
Peloton and Accor commissioned new research to uncover the attitude of Australians towards health and fitness whilst travelling for work or leisure. The findings indicated that maintaining a current fitness programme was an important factor for most Australian travellers.
The research found that two in three Gen Z or Millennials agreed that the opportunity to try new fitness opportunities was likely to impact the quality of their hotel experience positively.
Chief executive officer of Accor Pacific, Sarah Derry, said that the research was an indicator that health and wellbeing were priority factors for several guests upon making reservations.
"At Accor, we're always looking at how we can integrate health and wellbeing in meaningful ways throughout the customer journey to deliver an authentic and holistic wellness offering. We want to provide guests with an added incentive to keep up their fitness while they stay with us, which is why we're delighted to introduce the first-ever ALL Reward points promotion for Peloton workouts completed in our hotels. Every point earned can be redeemed with Accor or one of our partners and make a real difference to our guests' wellbeing," said Derry.
The research revealed that, on average, 7.5 million Australians who travel domestically for work said that maintaining an exercise programme whilst travelling was important to them, with 68 percent adding that they were more inclined to use hotel facilities to exercise.
Country manager for Peloton, Amanda Gilmore, said that whether Australians are travelling for work or leisure; exercise, health and wellbeing were apparent priorities.
"With expert instructors, thousands of classes and a Member community by your side when you need it, Peloton offers an expansive range of classes that are adaptable for every level and ability, so you can get a workout boost whether at home or travelling," said Gilmore.
According to the research, two out of three Gen Z Australians, 66 percent, would be more motivated to use the Peloton and gym services available within the hotel in order to gain loyalty points for a reward programme. This is more likely than Gen X, 54 percent, and Baby Boomers, 32 percent.
The research also indicated that amidst the cost of living crisis, 75 percent of those surveyed would be more inclined to use loyalty programme points when booking accommodation.
