Ayers Rock Resort, Uluru, has updated its wine list across its 14 dining and lounge options for 2024. These new wines showcase fresh Indigenous-led vineyards and a range of sustainable wines.
Munda Wines and Mt Yengo are now included on the resort's beverage menus alongside Indigenous-owned companies Jarrah Boy, Beechtree Distilling Company, and Yaru Water.
'Munda' means land in the Wirangu and Kokatha language and is similar to 'terroir’ Munda Wines produces its varieties in Indigenous Countries like Kaurna Country (McLaren Vale), Ngadjuri, and Peramangk Country (Barossa Valley) and Walgalu Country (Tumbarumba, NSW).
Mt Yengo is Indigenous-led, sourcing wines from across Australia, specifically Peramangk Country. It donates a portion of its profits to the Indigenous artists who design its wine labels and supports young Indigenous chefs.
The resort has expanded its biodynamic, vegan, and organic wine offerings, including Dalrymple Pinot Noir from a sustainable venture in Tasmania and the organic Yangarra Shiraz from Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale.
Ayers Rock Resort's premium dining options include Tali Wiru, which pairs each course with premium wines, and Wintjiri Wiru, a cultural storytelling and drone experience enjoyed alongside Penfolds Wine and gin cocktails from Indigenous-owned Beechtree.
“From earthy Australian wines to signature cocktails infused with native ingredients, our refreshed menu advances our commitment to offering authentic cultural experiences and supporting indigenous and sustainable operators,” said Matt Cameron-Smith, CEO of Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia.
He mentioned that the team had scoured the country for the best quality and freshest new flavours, knowing the importance of food and wine for today’s travellers.
Pauly Vandenbergh and Damien Smith, co-owners of Munda Wines, said the company focused on fine wines from selected First Nations Countries.
“We share stories from the world’s oldest living culture, one glass at a time. Nowhere is this more prevalent than the heart of Australia on Anangu Country at Uluru, where we are proud to share our stories with the guests of Voyages, and we thank the community for their support.”
Renowned artist and co-owner of Mt Yengo, Wayne Quilliam, was also delighted to partner with Voyages to share this captivating fusion of culture and wine.
