USA | The USA Airlines Reporting Corp. has announced that US-based travel agency air ticket sales totalled USD $53 billion from January to June 2024.

The six month period has been the highest total recorded by ARC for a consecutive six-month period. Air ticket sales have also grown drastically since the downfall of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

In June 2024, travel agency air ticket sales totalled USD $7.6 billion, a six percent decrease year over year. June showed healthy increases in both domestic and international trip counts, with a five percent decrease in the average ticket price, explaining the year-over-year drop in total dollar sales.

Through the first half of the year, total sales for domestic and international air tickets stood at USD $53 billion. There were over 149 million passenger trips in total, and 86.8 million domestic trips, a rise of five percent and eight percent, respectively. More than 56. 2 million international air tickets were sold in the first six months of they year, and increase of two percent, whilst the average ticket price was USD $552, a decrease of one percent.

"Travel demand remains strong for both domestic and international trips, with average ticket prices down year over year for the first six months," said Steve Solomon, chief commercial officer at ARC.

"Both corporate and leisure travel spending are experiencing similar growth rates and airlines look to continue this momentum through the end of summer and into the fall."

New Distribution Capability (NDC) transactions continue to comprise a growing percentage or ARC's monthly transaction volume. In June 2024, 21.5 percent of ARC's monthly transaction volume came from NDC — a 14.4 percent increase year over year. More than 1,000 travel agencies processed NDC transactions in June 2024.
