The Rees Hotel Queenstown has announced the appointment of Micka McDonald as General Manager

The Rees Hotel Queenstown has announced the appointment of Micka McDonald as General Manager, effective on the 1st of April 2025, following ten years in various roles with the highly awarded property.

Mark Rose, General Manager and CEO since the property’s opening in 2009, will continue in his Director’s role, overseeing sales, marketing, yield and expansion, working closely with McDonald. Rose will retain his shareholding in the management company.

Following her accomplishments over six years as Front Office Manager, McDonald was promoted to Executive Assistant Manager in 2022. She will bring over 20 years of hospitality experience and the support of the staff, executive team, and board to her new role.

McDonald and her team have helped position The Rees Hotel Queenstown as one of the premier hotels in New Zealand. Her experience and successes in the key areas of front office management, guest relations, operations, events and marketing initiatives have been instrumental in maintaining a consistently excellent level of service, an enviable profile for the property and high guest and staff satisfaction levels.

A strong, positive people culture and development programs advocated by CEO Mark Rose and managed by Micka have seen unparalleled staff retention, making them invaluable assets.
