Marriott has released renderings of the company’s first Moxy property in Australia.

The deal, which was signed earlier this week, will see the brand targeted at millennial travellers make its Australasian debut with Moxy Melbourne South Yarra set to open in July 2021.

The 180-room project will be handled by developers Hector Ktori and Peter Arvanitis and will be designed by Australian firm Rothelowman.

“We’re thrilled to be debuting Moxy in Melbourne, a city that radiates the playful essence of the brand,” said Richard Crawford, senior director of hotel development, Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Marriott International.

“The Moxy brand will be a game-changer for the Melbourne and Australian hotel market where demand for bespoke lifestyle hotels is growing; fuelled predominantly by the growing number of millennial and Gen Z travellers.”

The new-build development will boast high tech-rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as a selection of living, working and play spaces, like a bar, co-working space, meeting studio and a rooftop bar overlooking Melbourne’s city skyline.

“They want to stay in hotels with an approachable price point that offers bold, contemporary design and hyper-social experiences that tap into the local culture.”
