Over 450 types of local cheese were judged on February 28 at Auckland’s Langham Hotel for the New Zealand Champion of Cheese Awards.

Thirty cheese experts, including international guests, paired up to consider technique and aesthetic, and to decide who will be named best in their respective categories at the Champion of Cheese Awards Dinner to be held on March 1.

Cheeses of all shapes, textures, types and sizes were sent to the hotel for the judging process.

The public will get a chance to sample award-winning cheeses at Countdown CheeseFest on March 2.
