ARSON AT THE LEVIATHAN

Dunedin’s Leviathan Heritage Hotel was on the receiving end of an arson attack this week.

Police have arrested and charged a 35-year-old woman with intentionally damaging the property with fire. The attack knowingly put lives in danger and risked causing severe damage to the hotel. The woman has been granted bail, with the restrictions that she does not go within 100m of the Leviathan Hotel or enter the wider Dunedin CBD.

The heritage site has been a focal point of Dunedin's city centre since the mid-1800's, and to this day is still locally owned and operated.
