Rutherford Hotel Nelson has appointed Matthew Watkins as deputy general manager. Watkins has well over a decade of experience working in hotels and five-star resorts as well as international convention centres in South Africa, Zambia and Botswana before coming to New Zealand.
A highlight of his career was overseeing the visit arrangements for Michelle Obama in 2011 while he was the groups and conventions manager at the Gaborone International Convention Centre in Botswana.
"I am excited to make beautiful Nelson a home for myself and my family, and to be working for such a major convention hotel. The capacity and quality of this facility is world class,” said Watkins.
