Hip Object is a start-up wholesale distributor of modern, functional front of house objects. Formed by a collective of Auckland-based hospitality workers, the company focuses on sourcing bespoke and stylish front of house equipment for contemporary hotels, restaurants, and other hospitality spaces.
“We spent several years in the industry and frankly struggled to source exciting front of house equipment at a reasonable price point,” explained co-owner Dani Gomez. Rather than give up, the team elected to form Hip Object, travelling around the world to seek out new ideas and inspirations. “We are currently working on some really cool room service trays and buffet labels to help expand our collection.”
Hip Object is the New Zealand distributor for Australian pottery brand Robert Gordon, who have been manufacturing high fired stoneware and other ceramics since 1945. Using a mix of traditional and modern tools, each Robert Gordon piece passes through the hands of skilled craftspeople, some of whom have been with the company for over 25 years. Stoneware is twice fired for added strength, ensuring the end product will last a lifetime.
“We are thrilled to represent Robert Gordon Hospitality in New Zealand,” said Gomez. “They are truly passionate about creating beautiful art and the collection constantly evolves. We love collaborating with local and Pacific partners as their work represents the personality and unique culture of the region.”
