AAHOA Celebrates the Retirement of J.W. “Bill” Marriott Jr.

J.W. “Bill” Marriott Jr. has retired as Marriott International Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Board after 66 years of unparalleled service and leadership.

Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) celebrated his retirement with the AAHOA Lifetime Achievement Award at last month’s AAHOACON22, recognising his contributions and dedication to the hotel industry throughout his career.

Individuals are honoured with this distinguished award because they motivate and encourage not only their organisation but also others in the discipline.

“Anyone could recite and recount his many achievements, innovations, and the legacy he has established throughout his career,” said AAHOA Chairman Neal Patel.” But, for AAHOA Members, he is defined by the courage, empathy, and strength of character he has displayed through his many leadership roles with Marriott International.”

Like AAHOA, Marriott International is steeped in history and a family tradition of passing down a legacy. Since he was a teenager, Marriott has worked under his father and continued to help the business flourish.

“Because of his unique and visionary contributions to the hospitality industry, on behalf of AAHOA’s more than 20,000 members, we are honoured to present Mr Marriott with the AAHOA Lifetime Achievement Award,” added Patel.

AAHOA recognises and thanks Marriott for his dedication to the hospitality industry and also congratulates David S. Marriott for succeeding in the position as Marriott International’s next Chairman of the Board.

“We look forward to continuing our strong partnership with Marriott under David’s leadership, and we thank Mr Marriott for all he has done for our industry and our members.”
