Study Hotels, a lifestyle concept designed to cater to university markets' needs by offering high-quality full-service lodging, has continued its expansion with the official opening of its third property, The Study at University of Chicago. The latest addition to the Study Hotels portfolio joins The Study at Yale and The Study at University City.
Situated along the campus' Midway Plaisance - east of the David Rubenstein Forum, across the Rockefeller Chapel, and a short stroll from the upcoming Obama Presidential Centre - The Study at University of Chicago is open to students, their families, university faculty, and the community.
The 167-room hotel's design draws inspiration from the university's signature architecture and landscaping designed by Henry Ives Cobb and Frederick Law Olmstead (of Central Park fame) in the 1890s. Transparency and light define the property's public spaces, forming a link to the landscape of the Midway Plaisance. In the lobby, visitors can get a taste of academia in the library curated by The Strand Bookstore or the rotating student art gallery.
Each guestroom at The Study is abundant in sunlight and includes a leather reading chair and wooden writing desk. Guests can also relish in the comfort of Frette linens, C.O. Bigelow toiletries, spacious showers, and panoramic views of the campus or Lake Michigan. Beyond the guestrooms, the hotel offers guests exclusive opportunities to enjoy university culture as part of their stay, including guided tours at The Renaissance Society, campus architecture tours, and shows at the Court Theatre.
In addition to the world-class events held at the extensive David Rubenstein Forum next door, The Study has event and meeting spaces spread across 4,700 square feet. The Winter Garden is the highlight of these event spaces, illuminated by streams of natural light shining through clerestory windows from above. It is the perfect venue for summer weddings, accomodating up to 200 people in an unforgettable indoor/outdoor setting.
For all guests staying at the hotel, there is a new campus hot spot to frequent. Truth Be Told is an English-style tavern offering traditional pub fare and a curated list of beers, spirits, and wines. Guests can indulge in an intimate pint by the fireplace, unwind in the lounge area, or dig into a delightful meal in the main dining room.
The Study at University of Chicago is not simply a hotel on campus. It is an extension of the university and an enduring hub for the community to immerse themselves in the school's rich culture while enjoying exceptional accommodations and hospitality.
