Hyatt Regency San Antonio, the upscale River Walk hotel, has recently announced the completion of an extensive $38 million renovation. The project saw the complete transformation of 602 guestrooms and 28 suites to reflect a deluxe urban experience showcasing its location as a connecting feature between Alamo Plaza and the River Walk.

The renovation began in early December 2021 and was built by Canco Construction, a minority-owned San Antonio-based contractor specialising in commercial construction. Meanwhile, the interior design was led by DLR Group, a national integrated design company specialising in architecture, engineering, interiors, planning and building optimisation for new construction, renovation and adaptive reuse. Additionally, the project was further supported by the national contract coordinator Lombari Construction and Hyatt's global technology and design teams.

Upon entering the refreshed guestrooms, guests will immediately notice the excitement of the location, with floor-to-ceiling windows boasting panoramic downtown views. The updates invite an open floor plan with an elevated and refined aesthetic. Each room showcases new hardwood flooring matched by contemporary amber-coloured accent rugs. The rooms feature a light and airy colour palette with a denim accent wall and wooden hearth-inspired structure doubling as a wall mount for the brand-new 75-inch flat-screen televisions. Other new amenities include updated mini-refrigerators, sleek furniture, and work centre desks with lighting and built-in power access. Hyatt Regency San Antonio's indulgent suites were revamped to serve as dual-purpose spaces, perfect for luxury accommodations or entertainment destinations for small events or social get-togethers.

Beyond the smooth gliding barn door, bathrooms were refurbished with luxury touches, including marble stand-up showers with premium sliding glass doors, dual rainfall and handheld shower combination systems, a lighted vanity mirror, granite sinks, and countertops. The corridors and elevator waiting areas have also been redesigned to flaunt the atrium-style hotel that oversees The Alamo and Riverwalk.

The renovation of Hyatt Regency San Antonio took place alongside the multi-year, multi-million dollar revitalisation of Alamo Plaza, including the extension of a $15 million Alamo Exhibit Hall and Collections Building slated to open fall of 2022.
