Meliá Hotel International has welcomed Mahmoud Abdelnaby as the new director of business development overseeing the Asia Pacific (APAC) and the Middle East and Africa (MEA) regions. Previously working with Melia Desert Palm Dubai as director of sales and marketing, this is Abdelnaby's most senior position to date.

After stepping out of the Dubai property, Abdelnaby will now manage sales offices in Korea, Vietnam, China, India, Japan, Australia, and MEA. Having first joined Melia Desert Palm in 2019, he served as director of sales before being promoted last year.

With a background in sales, Abdelnaby worked at Rotana as director of sales between 2018 and 2019. Prior to this, he was assistant director of sales for Hilton Garden Inn in the United Arab Emirates.

Starting in 2004 as a reservation agent based in the Egypt sales office, Abdelnaby spent more than a decade with Hilton. From there, he progressed to regional sales coordinator, regional sales executive, and regional account manager in five years. From 2011, he served as regional sales manager - MICE and then regional senior sales manager before assuming the role of deputy sales director GCC and ME for Cairo Ramses Hilton in 2015.
