Second Sebel Hotel to Open in Wellington

Accor has signed with Sarin Hotels to open the second instalment of the Sebel brand in Wellington and potentially in other locations around New Zealand. Located on Thorndon Quay, The Sebel Wellington Thorndon is set to open in September 2023, following the opening of The Sebel Lower Hutt in May 2023. The location is to be a nine-storey serviced apartment block and will be situated next to Sky Stadium along the Wellington Waterfront.

With 72 rooms, The Sebel Wellington Thorndon will be managed by the family-owned company, Sarin Hotels, which specialises ownership and management of hotels and events. This is to be the third Accor property Sarin Hotels has partnered with.

Sarin Hotels' chief executive officer, Udai Sarin, said that he is excited about the opportunity to once again collaborate with Accor.

"The partnership allows us to bring a new level of sophistication to the heart of the city, enhancing our guests' experience with the exceptional standards that Accor is well known for. The union of our local expertise and international support system means our customers can also take advantage of Accor's global distribution and loyalty network, creating a distinctive offering that caters to both leisure and business travellers," he said.

The Sebel Wellington Thorndon will be the fourth Accor property collaboration with the brand in New Zealand and more than 30 collectively across Australia as well. Accor Pacific chief executive officer, Sarah Derry, said that it is a delight to partner with Sarin Hotels on another exceptional apartment hotel in Wellington.

"Trusted brands, like The Sebel, bring quality and credibility to the serviced apartments sector, which has been rapidly growing in popularity. The signing of The Sebel Wellington Thorndon is part of Accor's ongoing commitment to expanding our portfolio of hotels in New Zealand, with a focus on providing guests with high-quality accommodation and exceptional service," said Derry.

Accor has future ambitions planned for New Zealand, with an existing portfolio of more than 120 franchise properties across the Pacific region.
