QT Wellington has launched the city’s newest gin bar, Gallery Lounge. Located on the hotel’s ground floor, the famous art collection that adorns QT Wellington’s walls now sets the scene for sipping and swirling gin-based drinks.
Featuring a gallery of gins from hyper-local to international, Gallery Lounge will serve a menu of build-your-own gin and tonics, a rotation of gin cocktails and a daily Martini Hour. These rituals are in partnership with hero distillers who act as artists of an exhibition. Gin makers are welcomed into the lounge on a bi-monthly basis to showcase their works of gin art. Gallery Lounge will host live music, meet-the-maker-style events and tastings.
The inaugural partner and first exhibition is Reefton Distilling Co’s Little Biddy Gin. Named after Reefton icon and gin-loving gold prospector, Little Biddy Gin harnesses native botanicals gathered from deep in the West Coast rainforest where its namesake once foraged. Gallery Lounge is serving three specialty cocktails showcasing this unique spirit, created in collaboration with the QT’s expert team, and Little Biddy brand ambassador and international mixologist, Jason Clark.
Special events are also on the cards, with Gallery Lounge hosting a ‘G&Tea’ high tea during the World of WearableArt season. Inspired by the world’s favourite spirit and preferred partner to tonic, this high tea is a mixer of craft cocktails and perfect patisserie, crafted by QT Wellington’s Pastry Chef, Paige Simons. Two sittings of this special high tea are scheduled for Saturday, September 30th and October 7th, from 12 pm. Each ‘G&Tea’ booking includes a high tea spread, two ‘G&T’ cocktails and a selection of endless T2 tea.
General manager of QT Wellington, Jodi Brown, said it was a delight to introduce the Gallery Lounge to Wellington.
“In our vibrant, creative city and hotel brimming with art, this new opening feels right at home in our iconic space. True to the collaborative spirit of the Capital, we can’t wait to share the Gallery Lounge with guest distillers who are passionate about the art of their craft,” said Brown.
Aiming to ignite imaginations and evoke emotions, the new Gallery Lounge is exhibition-style dreaming with Wellington buzz. Gallery Lounge at QT Wellington opened on September 28.
