New Recruitment Campaign for the Hospitality Industry

New Recruitment campaign for the Hospitality industry

The New Zealand Restaurant Association has launched a recruitment campaign to showcase career opportunities in the industry. The Get a HospoLife campaign presents hospitality professionals in a variety of roles, from bartending to marketing, in the hopes of encouraging more New Zealand workers into the industry.

“It’s about showing Kiwis that there’s more to hospitality than meets the eye and can offer a rewarding career and lifestyle.” Said Marisa Bidois, the CEO of the New Zealand Restaurant Association.

The campaign features a 60-second video, with personal stories from people within the industry, along with a range of visuals for digital and social media. The Restaurant Association is also calling on hospitality businesses to list their vacancies on the regional Facebook job boards and get involved with sharing the campaign on their own social channels with the hashtag #hospolife.

“Young people joining the industry bring fresh ideas and energy so I’m excited to participate in this campaign to encourage young people to discover what’s great about hospo. Welcoming and supporting new talent into our industry is vital for our recovery and growth.” Said long-standing hospitality Stalwart Peter Gordon.

A recent survey of Restaurant Association members indicated that 79 percent of respondents had found it difficult to recruit for junior level positions and 94 percent for mid-high level positions. “The reality is that more needs to be done to attract people to our industry,” continued Bidois.

“We know that no organisation can implement change alone so we are engaging with key industry stakeholders, including industry operators, business organisations, training providers, Unions, regional tourism organisations and more, as well as a wider stakeholder network that includes Ministers and government departments. We need the support of others if we want to build a hospitality sector that is truly fit for the future.”
