Louisiana Hotel Leader Receives National Award of Excellence

Vimal Patel, President and CEO of Q Hotels, which oversees a portfolio of prominent hotel brands across Louisiana, including Marriott, Hilton, IHG and more, has been presented the Asian American Hotel Owners Association’s (AAHOA) prestigious Award of Excellence.

This award recognises a hotelier who has exhibited strong leadership, has high standards of excellence and is making a meaningful contribution to the accommodation industry.

According to Patel, the award is an honour as the industry shifts into a post-pandemic recovery mode.

“It’s especially meaningful because this recognition is also part of the effort to engage and change the system. It was a singular effort to bring attention to the plight of the hoteliers - which has been recognised on a national level.”

The global industry leader has renowned for his business strategies and expertise in the hospitality industry. Frequently appearing in the media, Patel has been featured on Fox and was most recently the focus of an Associated Press story about supply chain issues within the hospitality industry that went viral in the United States and Canada.

“The annual AAHOA Awards Program recognises the best of the best, and AAHOA is honoured to highlight this year’s award winners’ service and commitment to excellence. Their hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed, and it is through their leadership, grit, and determination, that our industry – and association – continues to thrive,” said the association.

In a recent interview, Patel shared that awards and acclaim do not matter to him as leadership is about creating and providing solutions through understanding, accommodation, and change.

“Sometimes you yourself have to be the change to make the change.”
